Have you got any experience?

Yes. Lots. I started working as a translator when I came to Valencia in the early 90s, although I'm sure the translations I did then probably weren't very good - experience and training are essential for good translations. I now have a great deal more experience along with the Diploma in Translation awarded by the Institute of Linguists in London.

Where are the classes held?

I'm not an English teacher any more. I'm a translator.

What sort of timetable is there?

I'm self-employed, so my timetable is whenever I'm sitting in front of the computer. It can include nights and weekends. That's why I don't charge extra for urgent translations - I can either do the work or I can't.

Although I usually take a holiday in summer, that doesn't necessarily mean that I can't do any work. If I'm available I'll try and help you.

How much do the translations cost?

0.11€ a word in the original text, plus VAT unless it's an original literary, scientific or artistic text. You can find cheaper rates if you look on the internet, but if what you want is an accurate translation that reads like it was originally written in English, then you're going to have to pay for it. If it's important for you to have a good translation, then it's better to spend the money wisely now because translations done by people with no experience or training can give a very bad impression.

I'm not a sworn translator - I don't want to spend the rest of my life translating legal texts and contracts.

Can you do me an invoice?

Yes, of course. I issue invoices for all the work I do. If the invoice is for a university or a company, it will include a deduction for income tax. You'll receive an invoice once the work has been delivered.

Can I send you my CV?

It's not worth it. I'm self-employed and I work alone, so I'm not going to be taking anyone else on. Not even you.

Now what are you looking for?

I need someone to translate a Spanish text into English.

I want to know who you are, what you do and how much you charge.

I'm looking for grammar explanations and exercises.
